Niacin has long been prescribed for the treatment of various cardiovascular conditions, particularly for elevated cholesterol. Although niacin has numerous therapeutic benefits, taking therapeutic levels of niacin will often result in a considerable side effects include flushing, particularly of the face and neck and burning skin, GI complaints and weakness. Studies have found a safer alternative to Niacin called Inositol Hexaniacinate which has been found in numerous trials to be a safer alternative than conventional nicotinic acid therapy.
